Pink Beet and Apple Bowls
A few cooked beet pieces can turn cottage cheese pink as you fold them through. The adult cuts the beets and apple; the young cook adds lemon and watches the color change. Pumpkin seeds give the soft bowl a little crispness.

Before you begin · grown-up check
The grown-up dices the ready-cooked beets and apple, removes the core and manages cleanup of the beet-stained board and knife.
- Together wash hands with soap and water and clean the work surface.
- Adult checks ingredient labels, equipment and task suitability; ages are starting guides, not a guarantee of readiness.
- Use only commercially prepared fully cooked peeled beets, not raw beets; their advance cooking is not part of this recipe. Adult handles all knife work.
Ages are a starting guide. A grown-up checks your readiness and stays nearby. Follow the actor label on every step.

The skill you’re learning
Folding spreads color gradually. A few gentle turns leave a marbled bowl; longer stirring makes the cottage cheese a more even pink.
Try one change
The adult can use 1/2 cup small pear dice instead of apple.
Serving & storing
Refrigerate covered at 40°F or below within 2 hours of preparation (1 hour above 90°F); use within 1 day. Cooked beets must stay refrigerated; use their shorter opened-storage limit if applicable.
