Minty Chickpea Cucumber Wraps
A partly mashed chickpea filling is easier to keep inside a wrap than loose beans. Cool cucumber and dried mint give the filling a fresh flavor. The adult handles the can and knife, and the young cook can mash, stir and roll.

Before you begin · grown-up check
The grown-up opens, drains and rinses the chickpeas, dices the cucumber and helps the child roll the wraps.
- Together wash hands with soap and water and clean the work surface.
- Adult checks ingredient labels, equipment and task suitability; ages are starting guides, not a guarantee of readiness.
- Adult handles sharp can edges and all cucumber chopping.
Ages are a starting guide. A grown-up checks your readiness and stays nearby. Follow the actor label on every step.

The skill you’re learning
Mashing some beans gives the filling a base that can hold the unmashed pieces. Dry cucumber adds crunch without making that base watery.
Try one change
Use 1/4 tsp dried dill instead of mint.
Serving & storing
Refrigerate covered at 40°F or below within 2 hours of preparation (1 hour above 90°F); use within 1 day. For a packed lunch, use an insulated lunch bag with two cold sources and keep chilled until eating; discard uneaten packed portions after lunch. The cucumber can release liquid in storage; these are best the day they are made.
