Jam-Dimple Cookies
A small spoon makes a neat dimple for jam in each cookie. Soft butter mixes easily without a machine. The jam can be much hotter than the cookie after baking, so both need time to cool.

Before you begin · grown-up check
The adult handles the oven and hot tray and checks the cookies before tasting.
- A grown-up checks ingredient labels, the workspace and the young cook’s readiness before starting.
- Adult heats oven to 350°F and lines the cold tray.
Ages are a starting guide. A grown-up checks your readiness and stays nearby. Follow the actor label on every step.

The skill you’re learning
The dimple holds jam below the cookie edge. Keep its base intact so the filling does not run through onto the tray.
Try one change
Use smooth apricot jam in the same amount instead of raspberry.
Serving & storing
Cool completely, then store airtight in a cool, dry place for up to 3 days. Discard cookies that become damp or moldy.
