Sweetcorn Egg-Ribbon Soup
A thin stream of beaten egg turns into soft ribbons in hot broth. The young cook practices measuring and whisking away from the stove; the grown-up makes the ribbons and checks that the egg is fully cooked.

Before you begin · grown-up check
The adult opens the corn, handles the stove and pours and cooks the raw egg mixture.
- A grown-up checks ingredient labels, the workspace and the young cook’s readiness before starting.
- Adult opens and drains corn and cracks eggs into the small bowl; wash hands and any raw-egg contact surfaces afterward.
Ages are a starting guide. A grown-up checks your readiness and stays nearby. Follow the actor label on every step.

The skill you’re learning
Cornstarch mixes smoothly into cold water before it enters hot soup. Adding dry cornstarch straight to broth makes stubborn lumps.
Try one change
Use 1 cup frozen peas instead of corn; the adult cooks them in the broth before adding egg.
Serving & storing
A grown-up puts leftovers in a covered shallow container at 40°F or colder within 2 hours, or 1 hour above 90°F. Use within 1 day. A grown-up reheats only the portion needed to 165°F.
